The months-long wait is over. Vanbot has premiered a music video for “Make Me, Break Me,” a standout track on a stellar debut album that’s full of them. When the song debuted in April, I likened it to hearing a pitched-up Robyn fronting Pet Shop Boys circa Please or Actually.
Directed by Jacob Mohlin, the clip for “Make Me, Break Me” is described thusly. “We got up in the night to catch the light of dawn and continued the shootings all day, very compact and very focused. In the video, Vanbot is presented in three different environments, representing the three different states of mind when it´s time time to either be broken or to break. Make Me, Break Me.”
That inscrutable explanation is lost on me, but no matter. My love for “Make Me, Break Me” has only grown since spring, so I’m fully supportive of any effort that will help Vanbot and her tunes get the bigger audience they so very much deserve.
If you’re keeping track of Vanbot (and you really should), that’s one music video out, one more still in the can. A remix EP from Vanbot is still on the horizon, with the Fear Of Tigers remix of “Lost Without You” now available for streaming/download (leading off a larger FOT remix collection). It joins “Bitter Is The Sweetest Part” (Bremen Remix), which is available as a free download.
