Video Premiere

‘Weird Al’ goes Gaga

You’ll recall that “Weird Al” Yankovic‘s parody of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” wasn’t initially approved, which had him in a snit. The rejection proved to be a miscommunication from Team Gaga, with the Lady herself unaware of his submission, who ultimate gave “Perform This Way” her blessing.

It’s the first single from Alpocalypse, Yankovic’s 13th album, out today. Other tunes getting a comedic makeover include Taylor Swift’s “You Belong To Me” (“TMZ”), Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The USA” (“Party In The CIA”), and Bruno Mars’ “Nothin’ On You” (“Another Tattoo”).

Yesterday, Yankovic premiered the music video for “Perform This Way.” Lady Gaga certainly gives Yankovic a ton of visual material to lampoon, and he goes for it. But the freakiest part of the “Perform This Way” video is seeing his face superimposed on a woman’s body to play Gaga. The best part? Well, the two ‘Madonna’ moments, obviously.

Meeting backstage at VH1’s Big Morning Buzz show yesterday, Robyn went gaga for “Weird Al,” tweeting this pic.

Purchase “Weird Al” Yankovic – “Perform This Way” via iTunes, Amazon MP3 (where Alpocalypse is just $3.99 today).
