Sinead O’Connor has premiered the music video for “The Wolf Is Getting Married,” the first single from her forthcoming ninth studo album, How About I Be Me (And You Be You).

When the teaser clip appeared a couple of weeks ago, I and others commented upon how arresting the visual reveal was. With “married” in the song’s title and the close-up shots of what looked like cobwebs at the video’s start, I was expecting some creepy Miss Havisham-inspired tableau, but it wasn’t.

Though London multimedia band/outfit Breton didn’t take the Dickensian route, their treatment for “The Wolf Is Getting Married” is a stunning piece of art. Still, the full music video doesn’t offer much more story to the viewer than the teaser, finishing without resolution. Did the laced-up lady finally break free? How did she find herself in such a spot to begin with? Perhaps all will be revealed in the music video for Sinead’s next single.

For now then, enjoy the visual accompaniment to one of Sinead’s strongest songs in years. Back in full-throated form, she’s accompanied by some lovely watery guitar. And yes, the intro does sound a little like Pink’s “Just Like A Pill“:

Sinead O’Connor’s “The Wolf Is Getting Married” is out as a single on February 28, preceded by the release of her new album, How About I Be Me (And You Be You), on February 21. Pre-order information here.
